“Ok so for some context. Me and the apprentice are living away and have just finished a long hard days work, I wanted to drive to a town nearby for dinner but he suggested we hit up the local pub. I calmly told him that this choice would be his responsibility if it was a poor one. Upon finding this establishment it seemed like a quiet little pub with some friendly locals, I was greeted with a gday mate by the European owner behind the bar. It was very quiet in there, no music or atmosphere, I was instantly questioning my apprentices decisions. I asked the owner if they had a bistro and he said yes mate follow me out here, he proceeded to take me through a few hallways out the back to a big dark room with a few tables and dining chairs set up, we were the only ones in there and it was dead silent. “She will sort you out mate, the bell isn’t working so just yell out to her in the kitchen when you decide what you want” he said then left us. As we were trying to hold it together we decided on getting mega parmis because we were feeling quite peckish. I yelled out to the kitchen and no response, after the 4th time I gave up and had to walk INTO the kitchen to get her. She said “if you want we have a surf and turf for $20 if you boys want”. This instantly set off alarm bells because we are no where near the ocean and this establishment doesn’t look like anything fresh has been within its site within the last decade. Now let’s get this out of the way, the chips were brilliant, but at the end of the day they are chips and this is the parm app. This chicken tasted like it had been in the bottom of the fridge since the weekend before and it tasted like it too. It was incredibly over cooked and had a weird taste to it like it was old. The bread crumbs were Soggy and the ham tasted like raw bacon. Salad wasn’t an option because as I said before nothing fresh has been anywhere near this establishment in a long time. Safe to say we may have found the worst PARMI in Australia, my apprentice will never be trusted with a meal suggestion again and on top of that his card declined so I had to shout him. Not a pleasant experience to say the least.”
